Is Square Appointments right for my business?
Whether you’re a stylist, barbershop owner, or a fitness instructor, Square Appointments makes it easy to schedule, take payments, and manage your team. Square Appointments is an all-in-one point-of-sale system designed to work with businesses of all sizes. If you already use Schedulicity, Vagaro, Mindbody, Rosy, StyleSeat, or Acuity Scheduling, consider switching to Square Appointments.
The class bookings feature is new, so some functions are currently unavailable, such as ClassPass; Instagram and Reserve with Google integrations; Square Assistant; and automatically attaching contracts.
What features are included with Square Appointments?
Square Appointments has three monthly pricing plans: Square Appointments Free, Square Appointments Plus, and Square Appointments Premium. Each plan includes different features to fit your business needs. The Square Appointments Premium plan includes everything in Square Appointments Plus, which includes everything in Square Appointments Free. Custom pricing includes everything in Square Appointments Premium as well as discounts on additional Square business tools. Eligibility required.

What hardware or equipment will I need?
Square Appointments works on any desktop, tablet, or smartphone web browser. You can also access it from the free Square Appointments app, available in the App Store or Google Play.
Square Appointments also seamlessly integrates with Square Hardware. Take payments right out of the box with Square Register, check out using Square Stand, or use our POS software anywhere with Square Terminal.
Can I add booking with Square Appointments to my existing website?
Yes. If you already have a website, you can drag and drop an online booking flow with our widget or create a booking button for your site. If you don’t have a website, you can still use your free online booking site or create a Square Online site.
Getting started
How do I get started with Square Appointments?
You can get started with Square Appointments by creating a Square account and heading to the Appointments section of your online Square Dashboard. Create staff, add services, and set up your online booking site. Square Appointments is completely free for single-location businesses that want a customizable online booking site so customers can book appointments with you 24/7.
How do I switch from Square Point of Sale to Square Appointments?
You can switch from Square Point of Sale to Square Appointments by creating your Square Appointments account here. You’ll be able to use your existing features and setup. The only new setup will be for added functionality included with your Square Appointments account, such as your services and online booking site.
How can I switch from my current solution?
You can bulk import your customer and inventory lists to get up and running quickly with Square Appointments.
If you have more information that you would like to transfer from your existing solution to Square Appointments, such as appointment history and future appointments, you can work with a Square specialist to help you get onboarded, to migrate your data, and to get your Square Appointments account set up. How long does it take to get trained?
Square Appointments is so intuitive, there’s no training required. Really.
How long will it take to set up my account?
Getting set up to accept bookings and credit cards on Square only takes a few minutes. You can set up additional services and items as you see fit to take advantage of our entire suite of products.
What if I have a question about setting up Square Appointments?
Our highly trained support team is available via phone or email. You can also learn from our Seller Community or visit the Support Center 24/7 to find useful tips, articles, and thorough video walk-throughs.
Pricing and fees
How much does Square Appointments cost?
Pricing for Square Appointments is based on the features that fit your business best. There are three monthly plans: Square Appointments Free, Square Appointments Plus, and Square Appointments Premium, and each is on a per-location basis. Custom pricing is available for businesses with a high processing volume. Visit our pricing page for more details.
What are the payment processing fees?
The in-person processing rate on the Square Appointments Free plan is 2.6% + 10 cents for every tapped (mobile payment), dipped (chip card), and swiped (magnetic-stripe card) payment. When you subscribe to a paid plan, the in-person processing rate decreases to 2.5% + 10 cents.
Are there any hidden fees I should be aware of?
Nope. There are no long-term contracts, startup fees, authorization fees, statement fees, PCI-compliance fees, or business card fees. Just pay when you use it. That’s it.
What cards can I accept with Square Appointments? Does the fee I pay vary by card?
You can accept every major card — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover — all for the same rate.
Can I set up an online booking website with Square Appointments?
Yes. If you already have a website, you can add a Book Now button to your site. If you don’t have a website, you can create a Square Online booking website for free with any Square Appointments subscription.

Payments and protection
What methods of payment can my customers use?
You can accept cards, cash, checks, and gift cards.
How do I take a payment with Square?
You can accept payments easily with Square hardware that connects to your phone or tablet, through digital invoices, or through your computer.
Can I take payments without a signal or when there is an outage?
Yes, with offline payments, you can accept payments when your internet goes down or on the rare occasion that Square experiences a service outage. Payments taken are then automatically sent through when you regain connectivity. Please see this page for more information on do’s, don’ts and compatibility requirements.
How quickly can I access my funds from Square sales?
You can get your money in one to two business days; instantly with Square Checking; or transferred directly to your external bank account for a fee.
What does Square do to help with fraud protection?
Our systems monitor your payments to keep an eye on suspicious transactions. Machine learning and human expertise work hand in hand to adapt our technology to the shifting fraud landscape every day. Our team of fraud experts reaches out to you if we notice anything unusual.
Compatibility
Does the app work with my iPhone, iPad, or Android device?
Yes. Square Appointments is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Android devices.
Does Square Appointments connect to printers or other hardware?

Can I manage my inventory from my point of sale?
Square inventory management lets you keep a clear count of in-stock items in your item library. With inventory enabled, the stock count updates based on sales from the Square app, Square Invoices, and orders shipped through your online store.
Can I sell online with Square Appointments?
Square Online powers your online business with tons of eCommerce features. Square syncs across your online store and POS automatically, so it’s easy to keep track of orders, items, and inventory.
Does Square Appointments work with my existing business tools and services?
